What initially looks like a small, run of the mill cafe on Pershore Road, Ramiro is actually an extremely unusual blend of Italian and Turkish cuisines, I combination that I don't believe I've seen anywhere else in my extensive travels around the city of Birmingham. The combination of their takeaway esque dishes (such as wraps, burgers etc.) and their small cafe style is something of a conundrum, as it's difficult to see who the place is really aimed at, late night revellers or those looking for a tasty lunch time snack. For a price comparison, you can pick up a cheeseburger and bottle of drink for £2.20 (I appreciate that this isn't a particularly wonderful example of their exotic, unusual menu, but I thought it best to offer a price of something commonly found in similar establishments). The food is tasty, and the service always comes with a smile. A stand out establishment of the area.

I popped into this place for the very first time ever whilst on my rounds taking photos for Yelp, and I'm really glad I did. I must have walked past Ramiro's at least a hundred times since living in the area and it never registered. It certainly has now as it's a great place. On first inspection it looks like a fairly standard cafe, but then you see that the food on offer is anything but standard. What we have here is a mixture of Turkish and Mediterranean foods that are freshly and lovingly prepared by the owner. Alongside the savoury these is also the sweet, with a great selection of cakes and other desserts. Really, really tasty stuff. Check it out.

Fusing both Italian and Turkish cuisines, Ramiro is quite an unusual place to catch a bite to eat. It is hard to pin down how you'd describe the shop, which tends to flicker between a relaxed cafe, and a fast food takeaway. From my experiences here, I've always used it for chilled cafe purposes, and found staff to be very inviting and welcoming to all of their customers.
To describe the balance of cultural food, Ramiro sells both (Italian) pasta dishes as well as biryanis (and other asian dishes). I opted to mix the two, and purchased a cajun chicken wrap with rice and spices. For around £3, the size and quantity of the grub was well worth the money, and the chicken was fresh tasting and full of flavour. All the items on the menu (whether they're baguettes, burgers or curries) come with a choice of salad, in similar essence to the variations at most Subways.
I particularly thought it was great that Ramiro sold Tizer drinks in a bottle; I haven't seen these beverages for years!
To round up, I can see how Ramiro could work perfectly as a fast food takeaway at night times for hungry drunkards, and I can also appreciate (from my own experience) how the premises works as a respite cafe.
